STE(A)M for the future

The new science initiative has been named STEM for the future. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The organizations Abelia, Tekna (Teknisk-naturvitenskapelig forening), Nito (Norges ingeniør- og teknologorganisasjon), Fellesforbundet and Nasjonalt senter for realfagsrekruttering og IKT-Norge have launched a new initiative aimed at increasing recruitment to technology and science.

Experience technological mastery and engagement

In connection with the launch of the initiative, the 6 organizations visited us in MakeKit. The only Norwegian manufacturer of teaching aids and technical toys for micro:bit.

Here, everyone got to experience a bit of mastery, commitment and perhaps for the first time build and code something that actually works.

Need more technologists

While the business community and our schools are crying out for more realists and technologists, recruitment is reaching a critical level, and fewer and fewer people are choosing education that makes them science teachers, wrote Rector of the University of Oslo, Svein Stølen, NTNU Rector Anne Borg and CEO of NHO, Ole Erik Amland.
