3D print your own drone

MakeKit's drones and class sets are compatible with most 3d print frames for 7x20mm motors. Click on the links below to get to the Thingiverse files. Note that some of the frames are just a starting point that may need to be modified and improved.

Requirements specification for frame design

You can design a frame for 3d printing or laser cutter with the following requirements specification.

Draw a frame that holds the motors, control board and battery together with the following requirements:

  • The motors have a diameter of 7mm
  • The center control board has a width of 23 mm and a height of 25 mm
  • The distance between the motors should be long enough to prevent the propellers from hitting each other, but not so long that the wires do not pull away.
  • The battery should be placed under the center of the frame
  • The undercarriage must be such that the battery is not in contact with the ground.
  • The weight should not exceed 10 grams.
  • The battery should be removable and attachable. Create a fastening solution where you don't need glue or tape.
  • The frame should be symmetrical in at least one direction.

NB! The propeller guard will not fit on most 3d models.
